Document Description
The San Diego Unified School District proposes to retrofit and construct new building spaces to provide new and updated career technical learning environments for the Sustainable Technologies Program and other supporting educational spaces on the Scripps Ranch High School campus. The new building will be approximately 23,500 square feet and would consists of a building area, outdoor covered gallery, and walkway/circular entry plaza. The new building will incorporate sustainable design and green building strategies.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project is Categorically Exempt under § 15314 - Minor Additions to Schools of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines. This project is considered exempt because: 1. The proposed project will be located on the existing high school campus; 2. The proposed new retrofit building spaces will replace same existing structures and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity; 3. The proposed new building spaces are considered minor additions to the school because they will serve the existing student population and will not increase student capacity by more than 25% or ten classrooms; 4. The area within and surrounding the project site is not environmentally sensitive; and, 5. It does not have the potential to trigger any of the exceptions identified in CEQA Guidelines § 15300.2.
