Document Description
The Project will help the City achieve compliance with its permit violations by addressing failing wastewater facilities, and will involve replacing sections of pipeline, repairing the two life stations, upgrading the WWTP, and constructing a new wetland disposal site. The Project will involve: 1) replacing approximately 2,500 feet of gravity sewer pipeline; 2) repairing two lift stations by removing equipment and filling in buried vaults, replacing submersible pumps, and installing new controls, a telemetry system, and a portable emergency generation system; and 3) upgrading the WWTP by replacing the failed headworks and disinfection tank components, removing accumulated sludge, replacing airlines and diffusers in the aerated lagoons, converting the failed sand filter basin to a treatment wetland, and adding a pump station to pump disinfected treated effluent to a new 40-acre disposal wetland. The wetland area will serve as the disposal site for treated wastewater, and will eliminate the need to discharge to surface waters.
