Document Description
This is a sediment removal project. As part of the proposed project the Town of Ross proposes to excavate a 400-foot segment of stream channel under and just up and downstream of Lagunitas Road Bridge and near Ross Town Hall. Approximately 2 to 3 feet of gravel and other sediments accumulate in gravel bars under and near the Lagunitas Road Bridge each year. The proposed activity is part of an annual project to remove accumulated sediment from below and near Lagunitas Road Bridge in order to restore hydraulic capacity in Corte Madera Creek. A single bulldozer will be used to move sediments to a removal point. An excavator, working from top of bank, will remove the sediment for off-site hauling. Up to 1,400 +/- cubic yards of material will be removed. Work will be performed when the creek is dry, or the area will be dewatered.
The California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2006-0465-3 pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project operator, Mel Jarjoura.
