Document Description
Caltrans proposes to purchase the former Bunker Hill Mine site (APN 016-240-190) for the purposes of disposing non-hazardous excess material from the landslides and construction projects. The 77 acre parcel is located 12 miles south of Happy Camp at postmile 28.5 on Highway 96 in Siskiyou County. Approximately 10 of the 77 acres have been used previously for disposal purposes by Caltrans under a lease agreement with the Bunker Hill Mine owners. This original 10 acres, and an additional 10 acresdesignated as expansion area, will be receiving landslide generated material and other materials collected as a result of routine maintenance, and will be used for occasional mixing of asphalt concrete grindings. Vegetation in the remaining acreage will be preserved. Future paving of the access road may be necessary for winter use. This is a state-only funded project.
